The Danger Of Starting Just ANY Business

Starting a business is an exciting time, and anyone who knows me, knows that I'm the FIRST person who will cheer the idea on. However, sometimes we can be blinded by the idea of an opportunity and what it could potentially do for our future, time, and financial freedom down the line, that we fail to ensure that the business or opportunity is within a true area of passion and interest for us.

Being an entrepreneur and running a business has SO many benefits and advantages, but let's face it - it's also hard work. It can be a rollercoaster with many ups and downs on a regular basis. In order for a business owner to stay motivated and resilient during a down day or down time, it is absolutely essential that their business is built around a passion of theirs. Something that they are TRULY interested in potentially doing for the long term.

For many, this is "that thing" that you already talk about, all the time. Maybe even SO much so, that the people around you can see the fire in your eyes when you're speaking about it. It's "that thing" you could talk about in your sleep and to everyone you meet, and makes you really excited to learn or read about for fun. People often ask for your advice or help with this, and the truth is, if you could, you would probably do this for free. THIS is what you should base your business focus around. If you can build a business around a passion, not only will you have natural endless topics and sources of inspiration for content to create for your business, but it will also often not even feel like work at all.

If you have a business now, and are struggling to stay consistent and motivated in what you're currently doing, this could be a sign that your passion and purpose is not aligned with your business. And that maybe there is something else out there that you would do much better with. Yes, it can be very scary and hard to think about having to start all over again and reestablish yourself. I've been there, I completely understand. But, if it could be a smoother journey that truly makes you happy and light up with enthusiasm and excitement, it may be well worth your efforts to consider it and explore the possibilities. You just have to ask yourself - are you truly passionate about what it is that you're currently doing? Or, has it just been easier to continue doing it as opposed to dealing with the idea of starting over again in something else?

I also see this happen a lot with clients of mine who are either in direct sales or network marketing now. And, I've experienced this myself as well first hand. You get excited about an opportunity and jump right in, but the excitement wears off and fizzles out sooner than you would have expected since your heart is just not completely in it. Something feels "off". You started in a business with a product perhaps that you love and with some pretty awesome people, but it's not your ultimate soul's calling. For you, perhaps there is just something else out there that should be your FOCUS, in addition to what you're already doing. When our energy and efforts are being prioritized according to our strengths and passions, things start to work and move more efficiently.

Ask yourself this - do you see yourself working on your current business, or what you have in mind to start, for the next 3 to 5 years at least? Since there is no such thing as "get rich quick" type of money within any business or opportunity, you need to be committed for a longer period of time to see the results you want. If you're not sure about your answer to that question, or need some assistance in talking or thinking it out, we should chat. Sometimes all that is needed is just a new perspective and a hand with getting crystal clear with your goals to make a minor shift that could make all the difference!
